Pros of Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift

Pros of the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift are:

Hyundai i20 Maruti Swift
The Hyundai i20 offers exceptional road presence with a class-leading width of 1775mm. Its 2680mm wheelbase is also the longest in its segment. The Swift has built a loyal fan base, offering strong resale value due to its high demand and minimal depreciation.
The i20’s base variant includes features like a music system, steering-mounted controls, LED DRLs, and powered ORVMs.  The 2024 Swift delivers outstanding fuel efficiency with 25.75kmpl for the AMT and 24.8kmpl for manual variants, keeping ownership costs low.
It also has gearbox options, a new cabin colour theme, and a wide safety kit. Standard features now include front side and curtain airbags, ESC, HSA, and rear power windows. Top variants come with a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, auto AC, and rear AC vents.
Hyundai's extensive service network ensures reliable support and maintenance, adding to the i20's strong resale value. Maruti Suzuki’s extensive sales and service network ensures easy access to spare parts and affordable maintenance, even in remote areas.

Cons of Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift

Cons of the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift are:

Hyundai i20 Maruti Swift
Hyundai doesn't offer the 1.2L petrol engine with CVT in the Asta variant. This omission reduces its value-for-money appeal for city buyers. Maruti replaced the 4-cylinder engine with a 3-cylinder, compromising refinement and performance.
The i20 lacks variety in powertrains, offering only a 1.2L petrol engine with manual or CVT. Turbo petrol and diesel options were discontinued, and there’s no petrol-CNG variant.  Even in its top variant, the Swift lacks features like TPMS, front and rear armrests, paddle shifters, and a sunroof.
Key features like split-folding seat backs and a rear seat centre armrest are missing, which impacts overall practicality compared to rivals like Tata Altroz. Features like rear cameras and cruise control are reserved for the top model, while rivals offer them at lower prices.
The top variants of the i20 are significantly more expensive than its competitors, making it the costliest car in its segment. At its price point, the Swift doesn’t deliver groundbreaking features. Competitors like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago offer better equipment at lower prices.

Like all cars, the Hyundai i20 and Maruti Swift have some strengths and weaknesses. The i20 comes with amazing premium features; however, there aren’t many affordable variants and powertrain options, so it is expensive for many buyers.

On the contrary, the Swift is quite reliable and efficient but lacks modern features, and the driving experience is not great, especially with the low 3-cylinder engine. Now, the decision is yours and it all comes down to whether you want premium features or practicality with affordability
