Tribhuvan International Airport, located 5.56 km east of Kathmandu, is the busiest of all. It was inaugurated by King Mahendra of Nepal in 1955. Since it is the main international airport, it largely contributes to the trading and commercial flourishment of Nepal.
Pokhara International Airport, situated around 4 km southeast of Pokhara city, is the second busiest international airport in the Nation. Domestically inaugurated in 2021 and internationally in 2023, this airport witnesses up to one million passengers every year.
Gautam Buddha International Airport, widely known as the Bhairahawa Airport among the locals, is located 3 km away from Siddharthanagar. Being the third busiest international airport in Nepal, it experiences a rush of footfall. Though built for domestic aviation in 1958, the international segment of this airport was launched on 16th May 2022.

Being posited at the extreme corner of Nepal and encircled by towering peaks of the great Himalayan range, this airport has been nicknamed the 'World's Most Dangerous Airport'. It is located within 20 m from the city centre of Lukla town.
Biratnagar Airport, one of the busiest domestic airports in the nation, has initiated operations since 1958. It is situated approximately 5.3 km north of Biratnagar city. This hub airport has intended to retain the efficiency of Air Navigation Services (ANS) and operate air traffic within Kathmandu.
Nepalgunj Airport is one of the most dynamic domestic airports in Nepal, located within an estimated distance of 8.6 km from Nepalgunj city centre. It was established on 15 March 1961 to facilitate domestic trading using air carriers to commercially uplift these areas.
Simara Airport is situated within 35.4 km from Jitpursimara, a sub-metropolitan city. Simara Airport began its operations on July 4, 1958. Strategically built within 39 miles of Kathmandu and 20 km from the Indian city, Raxaul, this airport promotes trading and transportation between nations.
Situated approximately 600 ft. (183 m) above the sea surface, Bharatpur Airport is one of the significant domestic airports of Nepal. Bharatpur Airport was built within 1.4 km of Bharatpur city centre in 1958. Considering its fast-paced development, the Government of Nepal has decided to expedite its upgradation and expansion.
The airport was launched on 6th July 1958. It is located at a distance of 3 km from Dhangadhi. While this airport air-links Dhangadhi with the rest of Nepal, tourists can also avail of commercial helicopters from here to the Khaptad National Park.
Bhojpur Airport, resided nearly 9.7 km from Bhojpur town centre, is the connectivity hub of Eastern Nepal. Coming into operation in 1979, this airport air-links the locals of Bhojpur to the commercial and industrial capitals of Nepal.
Chandragadhi Airport, also recognized as the Bhadrapur Airport is situated within 4.7 km of Bhadrapur. The airport was established in 1963, air-connecting Jhapa and Ilam districts to the rest of the country.
Situated within 1.7 km from Birendranagar, Surkhet Airport was built initially in October 1966 for military services. In 2018, Buddha Air established regular flights from Surkhet to Kathmandu.
Jumla Airport is situated at about 4.2 km distance from the centre of the town. It started operating on 1st October 1972.
Jomsom Airport is located within walking distance of 95 m from the Jomsom market. It has been operational since March 1976.
Tumlingtar Airport, which commenced in 1972, was primarily designed to supply amenities to the regions of the Mechi, Sagarmatha, and Koshi zones. This airport resides at 700 m distance from the Tumlingtar town centre.
