Launched in 1973, it is one of the primary airports of Oman. located only 30 km from the city of Muscat, it is easily accessible to the residents. The recent renovation of 2017 has expanded the airport with a new terminal, a new runway and a control tower.
It offers a range of domestic and international flights through airlines like SalamAir, Emirates, IndiGo, Oman Air, etc.
Another prominent name of an airport in Oman is the Salalah Airport, located only 5.5 km from the city centre. It was inaugurated in 1977 when it only dealt with domestic flights from Muscat. Later, it got upgraded to an international airport in 2003.
Following the transformation of 2011, it has a 4 km extended runway and a plethora of modern facilities. It offers flights through airlines like Air Arabia, Jazeera Airways, Oman Air, etc.
Located in Duqm seaport in Al-Wusta, Duqm International Airport was publicly opened in 2014. Its gigantic terminal consists of two aerobridges. Located only 19 km from the city centre. It mainly uses SalamAir and Oman Air for offering flights. Its runway is 4 km long and has aircraft parking slots.
The Transport and Communication Minister inaugurated this airport in 2014, located about 10 km to the northwest of Sohar. It was built in three packages, and has a large runway, which is about 4 km in length and 75 m in terms of width. With SalamAir airline, it offers flights to the passengers.
Finally, the name Khasab can be considered a significant part of the list of airports in Oman. It is responsible for serving the harbour city of Khasab, located only 2.8 km from the city centre. This airport has an asphalt runway, which is about 8200 feet long. It offers flights using Oman Air airline.
