2. Permanent Driving Licence

3. Commercial Driving Licence

Pune has the following procedure that can be followed to submit the application form for Driving Licence online:

• Step 1: To avail of various Online RTO services, log on to the Parivahan website.
• Step 2: The “DL Related Services” option is under the “Online Services” tab.

• Step 3: On the next page that appears, search for the state name, Maharashtra.

• Step 4: After that, click on the ‘Apply for Learner’s Licence’ (LL) option as displayed on the page.

• Step 5: To apply for testing, one must complete an online form, attach the required documents, and pay the application fee.

Here are the steps to apply for DL offline in Pune:

• Step 1: Go to the RTO office and pick up the LL application form, known as Form 2. However, you can download it by visiting the official website.
• Step 2: Complete the application and gather all essential paperwork.
• Step 3: Complete the application form, attach documents, deposit the fee, obtain a receipt and acknowledgement slip, and choose a time slot to take the Learner Licence test.
• Step 4: Take the test and get the LL after passing it.
• Step 5: You may choose a timeslot to take the driving test after one month.
• Step 6: Pay the DL and test fee and get the acknowledgement receipt from the centre.
• Step 7: Take the driving test on the scheduled date at the RTO.

The RTO captures the candidate's biometric data after completing the driving test and issuing the Driving Licence. This DL will be delivered to your address.

In Pune, motor vehicle inspectors are required to hold the driving test. For this test, the applicant must bring his/her own car of similar category with the license he/she has applied for.

Driving Test For Two and Three-Wheeler Vehicles

It includes two types of tests: In-ground and road tests.

• The course setting of the ground test requires you to ride/drive the vehicle on the “8” and “T” markings.
• The road test determines your proficiency levels as a driver, especially in relation to traffic rules and regulations.
• If you do not pass the Lays test, you can retake it after 7 days.

Driving Test For Four-Wheelers

A driving test for four-wheelers includes two types of tests: All of these features can be tested in Ground (onboard testing) and road tests.

• The floor test can be passed by manoeuvring the vehicle along the ‘U’ and ‘T’ courses.
• The road test is basically a scaled-down simulation of what you are expected to do behind the wheel of a car.
• An RTO inspector primarily administers and supervises the test.

If the RTO inspector feels you cannot drive properly, you must repeat the test.

If you decide to drive a car or ride a bike in another country, you must be prepared for certain rules and regulations you will face. You will need an international/foreign driving license if you are above eighteen. 

It is a translation of a domestic driving license, which permits the holder to drive a private motor vehicle in any part of the world or other area where such a document is recognised.

The application has to be made in form 4A or in writing to the RTO in whose jurisdiction the applicant resides following the proposed visit, including the duration of stay in the country or countries to be visited.

Here are the steps for acquiring such a licence in Pune:

• Step 1: An individual can apply for an IDP online on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website, but one can also directly apply for permission from their RTO.
• Step 2: Kindly complete the forms provided below:
  • The Form 4A certificate establishes an individual as a competence rider.
  • Form 1A, the physician’s declaration of medical fitness of the rider
• Step 3: Give details of the driver's license, identity card, and residential address that were issued.
• Step 4: Enclose all the required documents with the forms.
• Step 5: Pass the driving test.
• Step 6: At the time of submission of documents, the applicant must pay ₹ 1,000.

A renewal application shall be entertained not later than one month before the licence expiry date. If the lapse is more than five years from the date of expiry of the licence, then the applicant should go through all the procedures for getting the new licence. Offline Process for Driving Licence Renewal in Pune

The following are the steps for the renewal of DL in Pune in an offline mode:

• Step 1: You can download the application form (Form 9) from the official website of RTO, Pune, which is used to renew the DL.
• Step 2: Ensure that you complete all the fields in the application form and prepare all necessary documents.
• Step 3: Applicants should then physically present the completed application form and documents to RTO.
• Step 4: At the cashier’s office, pay the specified amount for the corresponding bill.

The RTO official shall duly check the application form and documents and release the renewed DL. Upon renewal, the licence will be mailed to you along with any other changes that may be there.

Online Process for Driving Licence Renewal in Pune

If you are from Pune, here are the steps to renew your driving licence online.

• Step 1: Visit Parivahan's official website.
• Step 2: Navigate to the Online Services menu and click on the button Driving Licence Services.
• Step 3: Choose the State of residence as Maharashtra.
• Step 4: Click “Next” to proceed to the next page, where you should choose “Apply for Driving Licence Renewal.”
• Step 5: Then click “Continue” and insert the DL number, your date of birth and the CAPTCHA code on the screen.
• Step 6: After entering the details, click on the “Get DL Details” box, affirm the details on the screen, and click the ‘Yes’ button if you agree.
• Step 7: Select the “Submit Request” option and then select the state (Maharashtra).
• Step 8: Choose your registered training organisation. If you are choosing a new RTO than the previous one, then you need to apply for a change of address and for that, you need to pay Rs.200.
• Step 9: Select the DL Renewal option and then enter all the details asked in the application form correctly. Additionally, provide the specified documents/credentials.
• Step 10: Click for fee payment and download the acknowledgement receipt once done.

Once the documents have been confirmed, the RTO will issue a renewal of the Driving Licence.
