The traffic police use cutting-edge traffic rules and devices equipped with cameras, sensors, and internet connectivity to record the traffic violations committed by people. They then send an electronic ticket to the violator's phone or email using the evidence collected. 

After that, the offender is given 60 days to pay the traffic fine. The execution of the e-Challan system has truly streamlined traffic management and reduced road accidents in India.

You can use several other options like the Parivahan Government Website, the Tamil Nadu e-challan Portal, and the Digit app to verify any e-Challans issued against your vehicle.

• Step 1: Go to the Government Parivahan Portal

• Step 2: Enter your vehicle, DL, or challan number, then verify the Captcha, and click on ‘Get Detail’ to proceed further.

• Step 3:  Once done, the system will show the e-Challan particulars, such as the violation type, fine amount, and any other necessary details related to the traffic violation.

Another alternative to check the e-Challan status is by going to the Tamil Nadu Police Official Website.

• Step 1: Go to the official website of the Tamil Nadu Traffic Police.

• Step 2: Find the ‘e-Payment Traffic Challans’ section on the webpage and click on it.

• Step 3: On the following page, enter the vehicle, challan, or DL number associated with e-Challan. 
• Step 4: Perform the CAPTCHA verification on the screen to confirm that you are not a robot.
• Step 5: After this, click on the ‘Get Detail’ button.

Once you have successfully followed these steps, you can easily access the e-Challans issued against you.

• Step 2: Find the ‘Check Pending Challans’ option and tap on it.
• Step 3: Enter the registration number and tap on ‘Check Details.’

People of Tamil Nadu can pay traffic fines/e-Challan payments using three methods. These include the online Parivahan portal, the Tamil Nadu Transport website, and the offline method.

Following are the steps to pay traffic fines/e-Challan payments in Tamil Nadu by using the Parivahan Government portal:

• Step 1: Visit the official Parivahan e-Challan Portal
• Step 2: Enter your vehicle number/challan number or DL number, verify the Captcha and tap on ‘Get Detail’ to access the information.

• Step 1: Go to the Tamil Nadu Transport Government's official website.
• Step 2: After this, tap on ‘e-Payment’ on the right side.

• Step 3: Then click on the ‘e-Challan Payment’ option.

• Step 4: Then, you will be redirected to the Parivahan Portal.

• Step 5: Enter your challan, DL, or vehicle number, do the captcha verification, and click on ‘Get Detail’. 
• Step 6: After that, you will be able to see all your pending challans. So, choose any you want to clear, select your preferred payment method and clear it online.

Once you finish paying the e-Challan or traffic fine, you will receive an SMS on your mobile number that includes the transaction ID.

Follow these approaches to pay your traffic fines offline in Tamil Nadu:

• Step 1: Visit the police station and submit the required documents, such as ID proof, address proof, driving license, and a copy of the traffic violation challan for which you are being penalised.
• Step 2: Furnish the documents to the cop at the police station and pay the fine in cash. Remember to take the payment receipt, as it may be useful for future reference.
• Step 3: You can also pay your traffic fine by locating a traffic police officer who has a handheld e-Challan payment device. With this device, you can conveniently make a cashless payment using your Debit/Credit card or UPI.
