The e-Challan system for violation of traffic rules is advisable under the Motors Vehicle Act 2019. 

The system is a convenient way to handle traffic violations and has ensured that traffic violation penalties are gathered and processed efficiently and transparently. The new rules also came into action in Chandigarh to rein in increasing road accidents and traffic infringements.

An e-Challan is a computerised piece of paper that informs a person of a traffic violation and the amount the person must pay for it. Among its goals is establishing an enhanced enforcement system for traffic rules by improving its functions and performance in overall operations. 

The e-Challan system is intended to enhance the work environment by introducing the web/app-based interface, which will replace the manual Challan form and Challan printing and provide some new features Challan entry, CCTV/Postal Challan creation or conversion to e-Challan, Challan Dispatch to Court (Court referral), Challan Payment, Reports Generation and complete management by the user.

The system is ideal for the current challenges which the Police department is facing concerning tracking challan record payments, reports, etc., by using the latest technology, which is flexible to use and deploy at the ground level.

You can also check for e-Challans issued via different methods, such as the Parivahan Government Portal, the Chandigarh Traffic Police website, and the Digit app.

• Step 1: Visit the official website of Parivahan e-Challan.
• Step 2: Enter the challan, vehicle, or DL number and complete the Captcha for verification.

• Step 3: Press the ‘Get Detail’ button after entering the required details.
• Step 4: Then, you can check the challan status as reflected on the page.

• Step 2: Under the Services menu, click on ‘Check your Pending Challan’.

• Step 3: You will be directed to the Challan Details window of the Parivahan website.

• Step 4: Enter the Challan number, Vehicle number or DL number.
• Step 5: Enter the Captcha code and click ‘Get details’.

The challan details will appear on your screen.

• Step 2: Select the ‘Check Pending Challan’ option.
• Step 3: Fill in the registration number and click on ‘Check Details’.

Chandigarh has three methods of paying traffic e-Challan online: the Parivahan website, the Chandigarh Traffic Police portal, and the offline method.

Visit the Parivahan website affiliated with the Indian government to pay for your traffic e-Challan in Chandigarh. Here are the steps to do so:

• Step 1: Go to the Parivahan website.
• Step 2: Enter your challan, vehicle, or DL number, verify the Captcha, and click on the ‘Get Detail’ option.

• Step 4: You’ll be automatically directed to the Challan details page of the Parivahan website.

• Step 5: Enter the Challan number,  Vehicle number or the DL number, verify the Captcha, and click on ‘Get Detail’.
• Step 6: After getting the challan details, you can pay for the challan you prefer to clear online.

Given below are the steps you will have to follow to pay your traffic challan offline:

• Go to any traffic police station in your city, along with your driver's licence, address and identity proof, and traffic violation challan. Make your payment in cash and receive the receipt. 

• Identify a traffic police officer with a handheld e-Challan payment device. Go cardless and make a cashless payment there and then through swiping your debit/credit cards.
