Like most states in India, the government also introduced the e-Challan system in Bihar to regulate and monitor traffic offences.

This system uses cutting-edge technology, including cameras, sensors, and radars, to determine instances of violation like overspeeding, running red lights, improper parking, and other traffic offences. The Indian Traffic Police have implemented the e-Challan system to replace the traditional paper challan. This system aims to reduce traffic violations by using advanced approaches. This digital method ensures that offenders' convictions are accurately documented and provides a convenient way to pay traffic fines. 

The e-Challan uses cameras and advanced machines to capture and record any offence while driving, such as speeding, skipping a red light, not giving way to emergency vehicles, etc. After these machines capture a violation, they generate an e-Challan digitally with the necessary details and forward the same to the offender. 

After this, the offender is given a fixed timeframe for paying the traffic fine. The owner can visit online portals and enter their vehicle's registration number to check if they have received an e-Challan. This advanced system has streamlined traffic enforcement and reduced violations.

It is advisable to visit the Bihar Traffic Police website occasionally and verify if you have been issued an e-Challan for a violation you are unaware of. You can also use different methods like the Parivahan Government Portal, the Bihar Traffic Police website, and the Digit app.

• Step 1: Visit the official Parivahan website or download the app from the Google Play Store or App Store.
• Step 2: Enter the Challan number, vehicle number, or driving licence number, complete the Captcha, and click ‘Get Detail’.

• Step 3: Then, you will be able to see your e-Challan status and offences.

The second alternative is to use the Digit mobile app and verify the status of your e-Challan directly on your smartphone.

• Step 1: Head to the 'Check Pending Challans' option.
• Step 2: Enter your vehicle’s registration number and hit the ‘Check Details’ button.

You can settle e-Challan/traffic fines in Haryana using three different methods. These comprise the online Parivahan website, the Bihar Transport portal, and the offline method.

• Step 1: Navigate to the official Parivahan e-Challan Portal.
• Step 2: After this, enter your Driver License number/Challan number/Vehicle number.

• Step 1: Go to the official Bihar Transport Website.

• Step 3: After this, you will proceed to the next page, where you will find the link that will redirect you to the official Parivahan Government e-Challan portal
• Step 4: Once you enter the e-Challan portal, enter your vehicle’s details/challan number and click on “Get Detail” to view the status.
• Step 5: Enter the CAPTCHA code for verification.

• Step 6: Then, you can see all your pending challans, review the details thoroughly and proceed with the payment.
• Step 7: You can pay the e-Challan/traffic fine using the payment options listed on the website.

After successfully making your e-challan payment, you will receive a confirmation with the transaction ID.

You can easily settle the challan payment/traffic fines issued by Bihar Traffic Police offline through two different options:

• Head to the nearest traffic police office in your city and bring your ID proof, address proof, driver's license, and a copy of the violation challan. You can pay your fine in cash and receive a receipt for future reference. 

• Approach a traffic police officer equipped with a handheld e-challan payment unit. Simply slide your debit or credit card at the payment terminal to instantly make a cashless payment.
