High Security Number Plates (HSRP) are installed to minimise fraudulent activities and ensure safety of vehicles. The incorporation of unique identification numbers on HSRP plates facilitates the tracking of vehicles which in turn promotes road safety. By installing HSRP plates, individuals ensure adherence to the laws set by the government.

Due to increasing theft and number plate counterfeiting, all the vehicles in Ahmedabad are legally bound to fit High Security Number Plates (HSRP) as per the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways norms.  

The implementation of HSRP began to take shape in Ahmedabad towards the end of the year 2019 due to circulars released by the MoRTH.

For vehicles registered before April 2019, it is necessary to transition to HSRPs, which are designed with advanced security features to deter tampering and forgery, ultimately aiding authorities in tracking vehicles and improving road safety.

In Ahmedabad, it is mandatory for all vehicle owners to obtain an HSRP. This requirement applies to all vehicle types, including two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and imported vehicles. When purchasing a new vehicle, it comes equipped with an HSRP. In case of vehicles registered before April 2019, they must be upgraded with an HSRP.

To obtain a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) in Ahmedabad, follow the steps mentioned below:

• Step 1: Access the official Book My HSRP portal.

• Step 2: Select the option for 'High-Security Registration Plate with Colour Sticker'.
• Step 3: Input all the necessary details, including state, registration number, chassis and engine number, etc.

• Insurance Certificate

In case your HSRP number plate is lost or damaged, follow the steps mentioned below to apply for a duplicate plate in Gujarat: 

• Step 1: Visit the official Book my HSRP website.

• Step 2: Click on "Replacement/Retain/Transfer"

Follow these steps to cancel your HSRP order in Ahmedabad:

• Step 2: Enter your order number, vehicle registration, and the captcha code. The order number can be found on your application form or payment receipt.
• Step 3: Click on the "Search" button to find the option to cancel your Gujarat HSRP order and request a refund.
