• Step 1: Register at the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) portal and create an account as a Public User.
• Step 2: After logging in, choose your fancy number and pay the required fee for its registration.
• Step 3: Confirm the payment you made for the registration fee.
• Step 4: Proceed to bid on a VIP number of your choice.
• Step 5: Print out the allotment letter as your record.
• Step 6: Make an additional payment at RTO Punjab to complete the process and get your unique number plate.

• In case you did not get the number plate of your choice after being adjudged the successful bidder, you can claim back your money.
• Your payment should be remitted immediately after the allotment of the desired number plate.
• All vehicles, even those bearing a fancy number plate, must possess a High-Security Registration Plate. 

The following are the steps to be followed to enrol for the e-auction process of the registration of a fancy number in Punjab:

• Step 1: First, register on the official website of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, which will provide a Unique Acknowledgment Number.
• Step 2: You must pay a non-refundable registration fee and the reserve price for the desired fancy registration number.
• Step 3: After paying the amount, select your favourite registration number to book it.
• Step 4: The registration window will be open for three days after the start of the e-auction, while two days will be given for the actual bidding.
• Step 5: For categories 1 to 4, bids may be revised in multiples of ₹10,000, while for category 5, they must be quoted in multiples of ₹1,000.
• Step 6: The successful bidders will be informed through SMS and email.
• Step 7: The balance amount is to be deposited only through the online portal within 5 days of the declaration of the result.

After payment, an allotment letter will be issued, valid for 90 days (3 months), to complete all the formalities related to the vehicle's registration.
