What is a Cashless or Network Hospital?
A cashless or network hospital is a hospital that is part of your health insurer’s network. This simply means that if you claim at these hospitals for your treatment, you can opt for a cashless claim, i.e. go ahead with your treatment without paying any cash up front.
When you get treated at a network hospital and opt for cashless claims, the bills will be directly taken care of between the network hospital and your health insurer.
At Digit, we have a network of 16400+ network hospitals where you can opt for cashless treatments.
How to make a Cashless Claim with Digit's Network Hospitals?
Step 1: Choose the network hospital you wish to be treated at. You can find the complete Digit health insurance network hospital list of the same above.
Step 2: Do let your health insurer, (a.k.a us!) know at least 72-hours in advance in case you’re going for a planned hospitalization/treatment and within 24-hours in case of an emergency.
Step 3: Display your e-health card at the network hospital helpdesk and ask for the cashless request form. Once you’ve filled in the form and everything is in place, your cashless claim will be processed at the hospital itself.
Tip: Always check whether the treatment you’re going to opt for is covered or not in your health insurance policy, and by how much so during the hospitalization and cashless claim process- there are no last-minute surprises and delays!
Benefits of claiming through Digit's Network Hospitals
How does a Network Hospital work?
Network hospitals usually have a tie-up with your health insurer that ultimately gives you the benefit of opting for cashless claims.
This is what makes a health insurance in times of need so peaceful, since you don’t need to worry about payments at an already distressful time.
There are primarily two ways network hospitals work when it comes to cashless claims; in case of a planned hospitalization and in case of a medical emergency.
a) Planned Hospitalization
Say you have to hospitalization for a treatment or need to undergo a daycare procedure and you’ve scheduled your hospitalization for a particular date due to the same.
In this case, you should let your health insurer know at least 72-hours in advance so that the claim processing can start on time, and you can get any approvals required on time.
Post this, just when you need to get admitted to the hospital, you will have to show your e-health card at the network hospital desk and get your cashless claim form filled and you’re good to go.
In case of a planned hospitalization, it’s always better to get any formalities done beforehand to avoid any delays in your treatment.

b) Medical Emergencies
Sometimes, and unfortunately when we least expect it – medical emergencies arise! In this case, it’s impossible to have a planned hospitalization but you should let your health insurer know within 24-hours in case you want to go for a cashless claim at a network hospital.
Apart from this, the procedure remains the same – you need to display your e-health card and fill in the required cashless form at the time of hospitalization.
How to Claim if there are no Network Hospitals present near my location?
We hope that never happens, but if it does – you can instead opt for a reimbursement claim at any other hospital of your choice. Here is how to go about a reimbursement claim:
- Step 1: In case of planned hospitalization, let us know 48 hours in advance or, in case of a medical emergency – let us know 48 hours from the date of hospitalization.
- Step 2: Post hospitalization, submit or upload all required documents within 30-days of your date of discharge. It’s always recommended to do this as soon as possible, rather than delaying it to make the process quicker and smoother.
- Step 3: Once we’re received all documents, we will process the claim and reimburse the required and approved claim amount within 30-days – as per your health insurance policy terms and conditions.
As a part of improving our customer experience as well as bringing transparency to our claims process, here is a list of hospitals marked as excluded. This is prepared based on treatment/claims experience from these hospitals. Kindly note that the Company will not be in a position to entertain any cashless or reimbursement claim for any planned/pre-planned treatment received at these hospitals. This is with a view to reduce the element of fraud and misrepresentation and ensure that we are able to serve genuine claims. However, any claim pertaining to emergency treatment received at these hospitals shall be considered on merits. Digit reserves the right to verify complete documents before decisioning the claim in case of such claim for emergency treatment.
