To apply for a Vietnam visa, you need to furnish the following documents.   

• Valid Passport - Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your departure date from India and have at least one blank page.
  
• Photographs - 2 recent color passport size (4x6 cm) photographs with a white background.
  
• Application Form – Duly filled-up application form for the visa on arrival.
  
• Copy of Passport – Copies of the front and the last page of your passport are required.
  
• Proof of Travel Medical Insurance (Not mandatory) - If you have already taken travel insurance for your trip, present the documents.
  
• Proof of Accommodation – Present the documents of your hotel bookings along with the contact details.   
  
• Itinerary and Ticket - Present both your outbound and return tickets. You might also be asked to show a complete itinerary. 
  
• Proof of Sufficient Fund - Provide your bank account statements of the last 3 months.

Start Your Application for Vietnam Visa from India

Open the official e-Visa application website for Vietnam and select apply.

Upload Required Documents for the Vietnam e-Visa

Scan your passport photo and info page. Upload these in jpg format on the website.  

Remember, it’s crucial to ensure that the spelling and spacing of your full name match the ICAO line exactly. Also, the date of birth format should be DD/MM/YYYY. Preparing and uploading qualified photos to the right fields as guided is also important.   

Fill-in the Necessary Personal Information and Submit

Fill-in the necessary personal data and information regarding your trip on the application form. Then review your application form for data accuracy and submit.

Pay the Fees for Vietnamese e-Visa Online

You will receive a registration code after submitting the form. Now, clear the e-Visa fee online through any one of the supported digital modes of payment.

Check for the Approval of Your Vietnam e-Visa

Wait for 3 working days and then visit the official website of the Vietnam Immigration Department to check for your approval letter. Enter your registration code, date of birth and email ID to access it.   

Save the letter as a PDF file and take printouts of the same during your travels. On your arrival in Vietnam, you will have to present this approval letter.

Determine the Visa Type and Check Your Eligibility

First identify which visa you want to apply for Vietnam and whether you need a single entry or multiple entry permit. Also, ensure you are eligible for that type of visa.

Fill Out the Application Form for Vietnam Tourist Visa for Indians

You can download the visa application form from the website, take a printout and fill in the form completely and accurately.

Visit the Nearest Visa Application Centre in India

Visit the nearest Vietnam Visa Application Centre of VFS Global with the duly filled visa application form, your passport and all other necessary documents. You do not require to make a prior appointment.

As you reach, approach the security guard there, collect your token and wait for your turn at the Visa Application Centre. Proceed to the designated counter for document submission once your token number is announced. 

Pay the Fees for Your Vietnam Visa at the Application Centre

Once documents are submitted, you can pay the visa fees and service charge at the application centre. Remember, the fees and service charges must be paid in cash. 

At the centre, you can also opt for premium services like courier, photocopy, SMS, photograph and form-filling assistance. Extra charges apply for each.

Track Your Vietnam Visa Application from India

You'll get an email notification or SMS (if opted for this service) once your visa decision is ready at the Vietnam Visa Application Centre. Additionally, you can track your visa application status online using the Reference Number from your invoice/receipt along with your last name.

Collect Your Passport from the Application Centre

Once your visa application is processed, you can retrieve your passport from the Vietnam Visa Application Centre or have it delivered by courier for an extra charge. For in-person pickup, bring the Centre's receipt and a valid government ID.  

If allowed, you can authorize a representative to collect it on your behalf by providing a signed letter of authorization, their government ID, and the receipt issued by the Centre.

In terms of processing time, e-Visa is generally the quickest option for Vietnam visa, with approvals typically received within 3-4 working days. Visa application at Embassy/Consulate can take longer, with an estimated timeframe of 10-15 business days for a standard application.

• Indian passport holders need their passport to be valid for at least 6 months when they go to Vietnam.
  
• Make sure there are empty pages in your passport for a new visa stamp.
  
• Your birth date on your visa application should be exactly the same as in your passport.
  
• Use your full legal name when applying for your Vietnam visa.
  
• The passport number you give on your application must be exactly right.
  
• You can arrive in Vietnam after the date you said, but not before.
  
• Bring passport photos when you collect your visa in Vietnam.
  
• Before you go to Vietnam, print out your e-Visa because you need a paper copy when you arrive at the airport.
  
• If you have an e-visa, you might be able to get another visa if an authority, organization or an individual in Vietnam invites you or sponsor your trip officially.
  
• When you're in Vietnam, you must follow the laws of Vietnam.
  
• If you're applying for an e-visa and have kids under 14 whose name is included in your passport, you can select that option on your application form and do not require another visa for your child. But if your kids have their own passports, they need to apply for their own individual visa.
  
• The Vietnam e-visa works at 42 places where you can enter Vietnam, like airports, seaports, and border gates. Check if your entry point is on the list.

If your Vietnam visa application is rejected, the Vietnamese embassy or consulate will typically notify you in writing.

The notification might not always specify the exact reason for rejection, but it's crucial to handle the situation effectively. Here’s what you should do:

• Review the Notification: Carefully examine the notification for any clues about the reason for rejection.
  
• Contact the Embassy/Consulate: Reach out to the Vietnamese embassy/consulate that processed your application. Politely inquire about the specific reasons for rejection and any possibilities for rectification.
  
• Consider Re-applying: Once you understand the reason for rejection, you can address the issue and potentially re-apply. Ensure you meet all eligibility criteria and submit a complete and accurate application the next time.
