New Delhi is the capital of the Indian Republic and is known for its flourishing industries like technology, finance, electronics, pharmaceuticals etc. Furthermore, the Central Government is encouraging the growth of businesses and industries in New Delhi. Thus, owing to the growth in business and employment opportunities, there has been an influx of foreign traders and businessmen to India.Â
Therefore, the city acts as a centre of business attracting foreign nationals globally. Moreover, the city also headquarters major educational institutions like IIM, and IIT which are again responsible for attracting many international students.
Likewise for increased cooperation between the U.S. and India, New Delhi has a diplomatic mission known as the U.S. Embassy. This Embassy caters to the grievances of U.S. citizens living in or visiting India.
The Embassy’s functions are as follows:
Acting as the cultural centre of the US in India by organising events, art exhibitions, musical programs etc.
Coordinating functions of the four US consulates that operate from Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad
Promoting a mutually beneficial bi-lateral relationship between US and India using strategic cooperation
Exchanging scientific and technological resources for attaining profitable returns
Providing legal assistance to US citizens residing in India if they have been detained or arrested under certain circumstances
Evacuating US citizens from India in case of civil emergencies
Assisting in procuring economic data and sharing it with American businesses operating in India for attaining profits
Guiding Indian organisations in formulating business expansion strategies concerning US macro trends
For attaining a visa from the US Embassy, you have to carry the following documents:
Online non-immigrant DS-160 application form
A valid passport
A single-colour photograph (2x2 inches) with a white background. Ensure that you have a neutral expression with open eyes. You must not wear any uniform or any electronic device or any eye gear.
Receipt as a confirmation of payment done for the US visa form
Ensure that any of the documents not written in English must be submitted after translation. However, the above documents for visa application will alter as per your preferred visa type.

Providing emergency assistance to U.S. citizens residing in India during arrest, death, etc.
Utilising the International Parent-Child Abduction (IPCA) measure to prevent any child from being abducted from their home country
Offering financial assistance in cases of unavoidable destitution
Granting passport and visa services to its citizens in India
Assisting in obtaining U.S. citizenship or renunciation of the same
Helping U.S. citizens during medical and legal emergencies
Notarising civil documents like affidavits, statement of consent for a child's passport application, U.S. saving bonds etc. as per requirement
Conducting federal programs like selective service registration, veteran affairs, voting etc.
