The bilateral relationship between Laos and India was established in February 1957. The first President of India, Mr Jawaharlal Nehru and the first Prime Minister, Dr Rajendra Prasad, were pioneers in establishing the relationship between the two countries.Â
Since then, diplomatic representatives of both countries have visited each other's states numerous times. India and Laos have strong economic and commercial ties as well. Ores, timber, machinery, electronic equipment, pharmaceuticals and metals are the essential industries in the trade relationship between the two nations.Â
The Embassy of The Lao People's Democratic Republic represents the Government of Laos in India and resolves all the grievances of Lao Citizens living in the country.
