Such drastic events don’t happen often, but when they do, it is always better to have a safety net to fall back on.

If you’re educational course has been interrupted due to any unforeseen event leading to you being unable to continue your course, then with a travel insurance you can be financially compensated for your semester fees.

This is explicitly designed for students who, in the event of any course interruption, cannot continue; they will be reimbursed for their semester fees. Study Interruption protects the student (insured) financially during any unforeseen and unexpected event of discontinuing the insured’s planned studies.
Some examples of events leading to interruption are hospitalization due to a sudden accident, illness, or even the unfortunate death of an immediate family member requiring you to go back home. You will have to show evidence of the interruption caused to your respective educational administration.

The insured will be covered during the policy period if you are unexpectedly hospitalized for more than one consecutive month due to:
an injury (which is covered by your travel insurance),
sickness (terminal as well),
medical repatriation to India, or even
death/permanent total disability of your family member or sponsor.
You will be reimbursed up to your sum insured if you discontinue your planned studies due to an unexpected event.
Let’s look at what’s covered under your Student Travel Policy with Digit:
The actual semester fees paid, which the Educational Institution cannot refund and if you cannot complete the semester.
Booked Air tickets from the student's city of residence to the country where the Educational Institution is, provided interruption happens when the insured is in his city of residence.
Return Air-ticket back to the insured's city of residence in case interruption happens at the city of the educational institution.
If you need to file a claim under Study Interruption cover, you must also be aware of what cannot be covered.
Anything mentioned in the General Exclusions section of your insurance policy document will not be covered. Along with that:
Any claim due to pregnancy or childbirth, venereal disease, or infirmity.
Any exclusion mentioned in the Specific Exclusion Section of the “Personal Accident” cover is applicable to you, your immediate family, and your sponsor.
Any exclusion mentioned in the Specific Exclusion Section of the “Emergency Medical Treatment and Evacuation”, or “Emergency Accidental Treatment and Evacuation” cover applicable to you.
You cannot file the same claim under both “Study Interruption” and “Accident of the Sponsor” cover of your policy.
While filing a claim, one must contact the Customer Service helpline immediately. You will be asked to produce the following documents basis the requirement of your claim:
Medical certificate furnishing details of date of admission and date of discharge together with the details of the injury or illness and treatment rendered.
Death/PTD/PPD certificate from a registered medical practitioner (where applicable).You should also have an official invoice from your educational institution and vouchers of payment of the said tuition fees.
