According to the Motor Vehicle Act in India, it is mandatory to have vehicle insurance while driving a vehicle in Coimbatore. Purchasing insurance from a reputed vendor is very important. 

If the police authorities ask you to present the insurance, and you do not have valid insurance, you will be fined ₹2000 and ₹4000 for the first and subsequent offences, respectively. 

According to a recent news report, the Coimbatore district traffic police have made changes in vehicular traffic due to Avinashi Road flyover construction work at LIC Junction. There have been major changes in the direction of ongoing traffic in Coimbatore. 

In another report, the Coimbatore police unveiled an app for real-time traffic information.  The city police developed the ‘roadEase’ app in collaboration with Google Maps. During the inauguration of the app, the Commissioner of Police V Balakrishnan said that the app has been developed to ease the traffic flow management in the city of Coimbatore.

According to a recen report, a car-free Sunday campaign was organised by the Hindu in collaboration with Coimbatore Municipal Corporation, Coimbatore Smart City, and Coimbatore City Police. The event was held from 6 to 9 in the morning on the Race Course Road. It was filled with fun activities for adults and children.
