3. Licence for Heavy Commercial Vehicles
A specialised licence is required to drive heavy vehicles, including trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles. The RTO issues these only when it is satisfied with the applicant's age and experience and after undergoing a very taxing practical driving test. This ensures that drivers operating heavy vehicles have the proper preparation for handling such machinery.
Types of Vehicle Registration in Indiranagar RTO Office
The Indiranagar RTO processes two primary types of vehicle registrations:
1. Permanent Licence
Legal Permanent Registration is a requirement for all private motorists and commercial vehicles to use the roads legally. On completion of the procedures, a vehicle owner receives a Registration Certificate (RC), which lasts for 15 years for privately owned vehicles and two years for commercially owned vehicles.Â
This registration ensures that the vehicle can be operated without any legal sanction as long as the rights are exercised within the bounds of the laws regarding road and safety regulations.
2. Temporary Licence
In case of urgency caused by the prerequisite, the RTO or the vehicle dealer may issue a temporary registration for at least one month. In this instance, the vehicle owner is obliged to seek indelible registration.Â
With the temporary RC, potential owners can use the vehicle and drive it legally on the road in transition to the permanent RC, which will replace the temporary one.
