Jalaun is a city in Uttar Pradesh which was the residence of a Maratha governor. Jalaun has one RTO and its code is UP92. This city  is surrounded with agricultural lands and tributaries of Yamuna river. 

In addition, it is home to the Government Medical College where students from outside the state migrate for study purposes. In recent times the city has seen an increase in the number of vehicles and the RTO office in Jalaun provides various services to these vehicle owners and the residents of this city.

Jalaun RTO has several functions. Some of the functions are listed below:

Jalaun RTO provides two types of vehicle registrations:

1. Temporary Registration

2. Permanent registration 

Your number plate will display the number that you will get after a successful registration.

There are various types of charges related to the registration of a vehicle. Here is a short list: 

• Registration Charges: ₹600

• Temporary Registration Charges: ₹1200 -₹1500 

• Hypothecation Charges: ₹1500 (In case you have purchased the vehicle on loan)

• Number Plate Charges: ₹230 - ₹400 

• FasTag Charges: ₹600

Jalaun follows the Uttar Pradesh road tax that is distributed among the types and subtypes of vehicles. Here follows a short list: 

• Two-wheeler costing over ₹0.20 lakh and below ₹0.60 lakh – 4% of their price

• Two-wheeler costing over ₹0.60 lakh and up to ₹2.00 lakh – 6% of their price 

• Cars costing between ₹6.00 lakh and ₹10.00 lakh – 6% of their price 

• Cars costing between ₹10.00 lakh and ₹20.00 lakh – 8% of their price

• Vehicles with loading capacity above 1 ton and below 2 tons - ₹940

• Vehicles with loading capacity above 2 tons and below 4 tons - ₹1430

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance before driving in Jalaun. There is a penalty for driving a vehicle without third-party insurance, which is a fine of ₹1000 and/or imprisonment of up to 3 months.

Due to dense fog in Jalaun, 11 people were injured and 1 killed in separate accidents. In the first case, 10 vehicles were involved in a pileup which caused injury to 7 people and disrupted the flow of traffic for an hour on the Jhansi-Kanpur national highway on 12th January. 

In the other case, a Bolero driver died in an accident where 4 students were injured when it hit a stationary DCM truck.

In UP social road safety month is being celebrated. The government has organised campaigns to make people aware of traffic rules and road safety protocols for a better and safer environment. 

• Human Chain: 3000 school children formed a 4 km long human chain with slogans and placards in their hands from Orai’s Government Medical College to its town hall.  

• Inspection by SP and DM: The Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate inspected this human chain and administered an oath to people about traffic awareness.
