Satna is the 8th most populated city in Madhya Pradesh. This city is a major economic contributor as it has huge natural limestone underneath and supplies 8% to 9% of the total cement production of India. People find this city perfect for living because of its great infrastructure and other residential opportunities. 

Traffic is the most important matter in this regard, which is well-maintained by the local RTO. It has the code number MP-19. It is also responsible for regulating and enforcing traffic rules in the locality to ensure road safety.

The functions of this RTO are:

Satna RTO is responsible for monitoring traffic-related matters at the local level. The authority collects fines from any traffic rules offender in the city. For this, the fine structure of the Madhya Pradesh government is strictly maintained. Here are the fines that you should give if you violate traffic rules in Satna:

• Not wearing a seatbelt: ₹1000

• Not wearing a helmet: ₹1000

• Driving a vehicle without a number plate (first time): ₹500

• Driving a vehicle without a number plate (subsequent times): ₹1500

• Minor driving: ₹25000

• Triple riding: ₹1000

• No-parking violation (first time): ₹500

• No-parking violation (subsequent times): ₹1500

• Overspeeding an LMV: ₹1000

• Overspeeding medium goods and passenger vehicles: ₹2000

• Drunken driving: ₹10000

• Violating road laws: ₹1000

• Unregistered vehicle on the road: ₹2000

Yes, it is mandatory to have motor insurance while driving in Satna. Apart from its legal necessity, vehicle insurance is also important as it helps to manage the damage caused by any accident. Not obeying this rule and driving an uninsured vehicle on the roads of Satna can cause a fine of ₹2000.

Satna has witnessed several unfortunate road events recently. News of the death of a woman and her grandson was reported on 23rd April 2023. They were on a bike, and an overspeeding truck hit them fatally. The boy died at the accident spot, and the woman died during treatment.

Another fatal road accident was reported in the earlier part of this year, where 14 people were killed because of a bus and truck collision. All these accidents have raised concern among the authority, and they are trying to enforce traffic laws more strictly. 

To spread awareness regarding road safety in the previous year, from 5th to 7th November, an adult road safety activity was organised by Honda. Youths from Shri Rama Krishna College of Polytechnique and Management, Satna, took part in this program. A bike rally was out to spread awareness regarding responsible driving on the road to create a safe environment.
