Vyara is the district headquarter of Tapi in Gujarat. This is a quite populated region and well-connected with surrounding major cities such as Surat. The area has well-connected road networks and traffic-related matters are maintained by the local RTO which has the code number GJ-26.

Vyara RTO takes care of the following responsibilities:

• Temporary and permanent vehicle registration

• Issuance of learner’s licence and permanent driving licence

• Doing mechanical inspection on vehicles

• Issuing NOC

• Issuance of different permits such as international driving licence

• Collecting motor vehicle road taxes

• To enforce traffic laws and collect fines for traffic rule violation

• Ensuring the progression and growth of different transportation projects

Here are the types of driving licence issued by Vyara RTO:

• Two-wheelers (within 50cc) driving licence

• Two-wheelers (more than 50cc) driving licence for

• Driving licence for non-transport light motor vehicle 

• Driving licence for commercial light motor vehicle 

• Heavy goods vehicles licence

• Heavy passenger vehicle licence

• Medium goods vehicles licence

• Medium passenger vehicle licence

• Learner’s licence

There are two types of vehicle registration certificate in Vyara RTO which are:

• Temporary Registration

• Permanent Registration

When you purchase a new vehicle or a pre-owned one, you need to register that under the Motor Vehicle Act of India. Hence, citizens of Vyara can do this by visiting the GJ-26 and submitting the necessary documents along with the required registration charge.

The vehicle registration charge in Vyara is uniform throughout the state of Gujarat. An instance of a full car registration charge is as follows:

• Registration charge: ₹600

• Hypothecation charge (if you have bought the car on loan): ₹1500

• Number plate charge: ₹230 to ₹400

• MCD parking (for cars below ₹4 lakh): ₹2000

• MCD parking (for cars above ₹4 lakh): ₹4000

• Temporary registration charge: ₹1200 to ₹1500

• Individual purchases: 6% road tax charge

• Company purchases: 12% road tax charge

• VAT duty: 5%

• FastTag charge: ₹600

Gujarat road tax structure is followed by the Vyara RTO, which is:

• Motorcycle: 6% of the vehicle’s cost

• Auto rickshaw (up to seating capacity of 3): 2.5% of the vehicle’s cost

• Auto rickshaw (up to seating capacity from 3 to 6): 6% of the vehicle’s cost

• Medium goods vehicle (between 7501 to 12000 kgs): 8% of the vehicle’s cost

• Heavy Goods Vehicle (more than 12001 kgs): 12% of the vehicle’s cost

• Taxis, LMVs, private cars, wagons, four-wheelers, and jeeps: 6% of the vehicle’s cost

• Good vehicles within 7500 kgs: 6% of the vehicle’s cost

• Tractors: 3% of the vehicle’s cost

Like all other parts of Gujarat, disobeying traffic rules in Vyara will lead to fines:

• Driving without a helmet: ₹500 (first and subsequent times)

• Driving without a valid licence (two-wheelers): ₹2000 (first and subsequent offences)

• Driving without a valid licence (other vehicles): ₹3000 (first and subsequent offences)

• Underage driving (two-wheelers): ₹2000 (first offence and subsequent offences)

• Underage driving (other vehicles): ₹3000 (first offence and subsequent offences)

• Disobeying speed limit (first time): ₹1500 to ₹4000 

• Disobeying speed limit (second time): ₹2000 to ₹3000 and/or licence cancellation for 6 months 

• Driving vehicles without registration: ₹1000 to ₹3000 (first and subsequent offences)

• Rash driving: ₹1500 to ₹5000 ( first time and subsequent offences)

• Driving unauthorised vehicles (two-wheelers): ₹2000 (first and subsequent times)

• Driving unauthorised vehicles (others): ₹3000 (first and subsequent times)

It is mandatory to have vehicle insurance to drive vehicles in Vyara. Violating this rule will lead to penalties. A first-time violation of this rule will cause a penalty of ₹2000 for the vehicles like two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and light motor vehicles. Afterward, a penalty of ₹4000 will be levied on the offenders.

Not obeying traffic rules, violating driving safety measures, etc often have led to different unfortunate road events in Vyara. One recent news of a road accident reported where two children died and 15 were injured due to the overturning of a tempo. 

However, the local authority is very active in handling traffic-related issues and they are trying to implement beneficial rules to reduce the number of accidents.

In addition, the PM has also inaugurated multiple road improvement projects in Vyara which will help in the comfortable commuting of local people.
