What Is Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme?
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is a flagship program that intends to link at least five villages with Higher Educational institutions. With the help of their knowledge base, these institutions will succeed in helping in the village communities’ social and economic growth.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, is the National Coordinating Institute for the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan scheme. The UBA envisages a cathartic change in the rural development process with the help of knowledge institutions to build the architect for an Inclusive India.
What Are the Objectives of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan?
Objectives of UBA include –
- Engaging students and faculty of Higher Educational Institute to find sustainable solutions for the issues of development in rural areas
- Identifying and selecting innovative technologies that are already existing, customising technologies and devising methods to implement innovative solutions, as people require
- Allowing HEIs to take part in developing systems to implement various government schemes smoothly
What Are the Features of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan?
Features of this scheme are –
- Under this scheme, people residing in villages and their communities will be given higher education.
- Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is built in association with IIT, NIT etc.
- Students from 750 Higher Educational Institutions across India will adopt villages under this scheme.
Who Are Eligible to Apply Under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme?
To be eligible for UBA, a Higher Educational Institution must be based in India and have an ASHE code. The HEI must be willing to be involved in rural development activities and should identify at least five villages in their vicinity. Moreover, the institution should consist of at least two faculty members willing to volunteer in rural areas' development activities.

How to Apply Under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan?

- Step 1 – Visit the official portal of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and click on 'Join UBA' on the homepage.
- Step 2 – A popup page will open with eligibility details for registration. Click on 'proceed'.
- Step 3 – On the next page, fill in all the registration forms with necessary information, including name, mobile number, address, etc. Then click on 'submit'.
- Step 4 – After successful registration, all organisations will receive your credentials to visit SEG login or PI login to the scheme’s authorised website.
